Not Everything Goes to Plan — And That’s Where the Magic Happens
When we scheduled a sunrise beach session with Celine and Oli, we pictured glowing skies, gentle waves, and golden light. But what we got was… grey clouds, drizzle, and a beach that wasn’t looking its best.
But here’s the thing — it was still incredible.
Celine and Oli didn’t let the less-than-perfect conditions phase them. They leaned in. They danced in the rain, laughed through the wind, and by the end, they were both in the ocean — on a cool morning, no less!
Their session turned out to be one of my absolute favourites. Why? Because it was real. It was playful. It was a perfect reflection of who they are — spontaneous, adventurous, and totally in sync.
So, What Happens When Things Don’t Go to Plan?
It’s easy to imagine your session — or your wedding day — unfolding perfectly. But real life isn’t always predictable. The weather can change. The light might be different than you expected. The setting might be a little messy or wild.
And this is where choosing the right photographer really matters.
Because it’s not just about taking pretty pictures when everything is perfect. It’s about creating beautiful images even when things don’t go to plan.
Whether it’s a bit of rain, harsh light, or unexpected chaos — a skilled photographer will know how to pivot, adjust, and still capture moments that feel epic and true to you.
Why It Matters (Especially for Weddings)
Imagine it’s your wedding day. The weather has turned, your timeline’s gone off-track, and things feel a little stressful. Now imagine you’ve chosen a photographer who knows how to stay calm, think creatively, and still capture the story unfolding in front of them — rain or shine.
That ability to adapt isn’t just a technical skill — it’s part of creating space for you to be present, let go, and enjoy the moment. Because this is your story, and the imperfections are part of the beauty.
In fact, sometimes the unexpected moments are the ones you remember most — the ones that feel the most alive.
💡Questions to Ask Your Photographer
To make sure you’re choosing someone who can roll with whatever the day throws at them, here are a few things worth asking:
What do you do if it rains during our session or wedding day?
Are you comfortable shooting in low-light or harsh lighting conditions?
How do you help couples feel relaxed if things don’t go to plan?
Can you show me examples of sessions where the conditions were less than ideal?
How do you stay creative and adaptable during unpredictable moments?
